My name is Ramesh Lakmal, Director and Founder of Ceylon Panacea Ventures Limited. My journey began with a deep passion for cricket, which has been a central part of my life for over 15 years. I have had the privilege of playing and gaining experience across New Zealand, England, Australia, Denmark, and Sri Lanka as a top-order left-hand batsman and right-arm fast-medium bowler.
Cricket has not only shaped my career but also my values—discipline, teamwork, and leadership. After transitioning into coaching, I became a NZC Level 2 Certified Coach, focusing on developing young talent and helping players reach their full potential.
Through my experiences, I realised there was an opportunity to create something meaningful that connects sport, travel, and cultural exchange. This vision led me to establish Ceylon Panacea Ventures, where I aim to provide high-quality cricket development programs, international tours, and unique holiday experiences in Sri Lanka. My goal is to create pathways for young cricketers while also promoting unforgettable travel experiences.
I moved to New Zealand in 2016 to further develop my cricket career and explore new opportunities in coaching and personal growth. New Zealand provided me with a great environment to expand my knowledge, gain international exposure, and work within a well-structured cricket system.
Over time, I identified a gap between New Zealand and Sri Lanka in terms of cricket tours, cultural experiences, and player development pathways. Having strong connections in both countries, I saw an opportunity to bridge this gap.
This inspired me to start Ceylon Panacea Ventures Limited. The business was created to offer professional cricket tours to Sri Lanka, provide development opportunities for players, and deliver authentic travel experiences. It also allows me to give back to the sport by sharing my knowledge and helping young cricketers grow both on and off the field.
